Die Entwicklungen der Politik der Trump-Regierung seit einem Amtsantritt im Januar innerhalb der USA sowie ihre Pläne auf internationaler Ebene ( wie die Verbindung mit dem Putin-Regime, die Forcierung eines Handelskrieges, die Drohung, andere Länder zu übernehmen, die offene Unterstützung rechtsextremer politischer Parteien in Europa (insbesondere Deutschland) usw.) lassen viele von fassungslos zurück. Wird es eine Verfassungskrise und einen wirtschaftlichen Zusammenbruch geben oder erleben wir den Wandel der USA von einem neoliberalen zu einem faschistischen, expansionistischen, kapitalistischen Staat?
Ellen David Friedman, eine langjährige Gewerkschaftsorganisatorin im Ruhestand und Vorstandsvorsitzende von Labor Notes in den USA, und Eli Friedman, außerordentlicher Professor für Global Labor and Work an der Cornell University, werden uns berichten, wie sie die Situation einschätzen, und uns einen Eindruck davon vermitteln, ob und wie die Arbeiterbewegung und die Linke des Landes über den juristischen Kampf vor den Gerichten hinaus den Widerstand diskutieren und organisieren. Beide sind seit Langem intensiv mit Problemen in der Arbeitswelt befasst, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf China und internationale Solidarität. Sie werden einen ca. 30-45 minütigen Input geben und anschließend werden wir Zeit für eine Diskussion haben.
The Trump administration’s policies
Internal as well as international implications especially for China and Europe
The unfolding of the Trump government’s policies since he took over in January inside the US as well as it’s plans internationally (like linking up with the Putin regime, pushing a trade war, threatening to take over other countries, openly supporting the far right political parties in Europe (especially Germany) etc.) leave many of us stunned. Will there be a constitutional crisis and an economic collapse or are we experiencing the change of the US from a neo-liberal to a fascist expansionist capitalist state?
Ellen David Friedman, a retired long standing union organizer and chairwomen of Labor Notesboard in the US and Eli Friedman, Associate Professor of Global Labor and Work at Cornell University will tell us how they assess the sitiuation and give us an idea about whether and how the country’s labour movement and the left dicusses and organizes opposition beyond the legal struggle in the courts. Both have for long been deeply involved in labour issues with a special focus China and international solidarity. They will give an input of about 30-45 minutes and than we will have time for discussion.
